Joe Dobbes | Owner

Joe Dobbes is both a hopeless entrepreneur and winemaker/technician. He owns and/or operates 6 different companies of which 5 are wine and production, agricultural and services related.

Joe brings over 3 decades of winemaking experience to his newest endeavor, Dundee Mobile Bottlers. He began his winemaking career apprenticing at Weingut Erbhof Tesch in Germany’s Nahe region and at Domaine G. Roumier and Domaine des Comtes Lafon in Burgundy with wine legends Christophe Roumier and Dominique Lafon. He further honed his skills working in Alsace with Domaine Ostertag. Stateside, Joe worked for Elk Cove Vineyards as a cellar master and winemaker for Eola Hills Wine Cellars, Hinman/Sylvan Ridge, Paschal Winery, and Willamette Valley Vineyards where he spearheaded the Griffin Creek and Tualatin Estate labels.

After 17 years of working for others internationally and in Oregon, Joe started his own business, Wine By Joe, LLC, where he crafted wine for numerous clients and produced three of his own labels: Dobbes Family Estate, a luxury label dedicated to Willamette Valley Pinot noir, Rogue Valley Syrah, Viognier and Grenache Blanc; Wine By Joe, a value-price Oregon appellation label; and Jovino, Joe’s third label, dedicated to producing Pinot Noir and Pinot Gris.

After 32 years under his belt as a winemaker and 15 years of overseeing all winemaking, vineyard and company operations and sales related travel, Joe stepped aside, while maintaining his ownership, to purse his other business interests leaving all to his very capable and long-time staff.

Joe and his wife, Patricia, are long time Salem residents and live on their 21-acre dream property and vineyard, located in the Eola-Amity hills AVA, from which they produce organically grown Pinot Noir, Chardonnay and Sauvignon Blanc under Joe’s legacy label; Iterum.

Their children, Griffin and Amelia share their fathers entrepreneurial and business interests. Amelia takes care of business at her father’s winery as an assistant Marketing Director. Griffin is conquering the business world working for a startup company in Utah where he graduated from college.
